Job Summary
Join one of the UK’s largest and most progressive Cancer Services teams as a pharmacist. This Band 7 role offers structured development within the Rotational Programme, with opportunities to gain advanced clinical and aseptic experience across oncology, haematology and technical services.
UHB is a tertiary referral Cancer Centre with 5 outpatient day units, 4 inpatient wards, a specialist BMT and CAR‑T service, and dedicated outpatient clinics. Pharmacists are fully integrated across ward services, day units, aseptic units and pharmacist‑led clinics.
Responsibilities
- Clinically verify haem/onc prescriptions
- Provide inpatient clinical pharmacy service to the haem/onc wards at QE
- Ensure oral SACT patients receive appropriate counselling and support with their medication
- Support aseptic services with final release of chemotherapy products
- Support the introduction of new medicines, including preparing prescriptions for the electronic prescribing system
- Support service development initiatives
- Contribute to audit programmes as needed
- Support the on‑call rota

Qualifications
Essential
- Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Completion of first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway
- Current professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Evidence of continued professional development in pharmacy
Desirable
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Member of UKCPA
- In‑house training and accreditation for formulation of PN and final check of aseptics
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
- Willingness to work towards a non‑medical prescribing qualification
Experience
Essential
- Experience working within an NHS/healthcare environment with clinicians and other healthcare professionals at all levels
- Minimum 12 months post‑registration experience in hospital pharmacy at point of application
- Previous participation in multi‑disciplinary team
- Experience managing/supervising staff or students and delivering training on a range of subjects
- Evidence of risk management and service improvements
- Demonstrated commitment to providing high‑quality pharmaceutical care
- Relevant clinical knowledge in hospital pharmacy
- Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines, e.g. NICE, NSF
- Knowledge of resources to answer medicines information queries
- Good knowledge of hospital clinical pharmacy and current issues
Desirable
- Previous experience in cancer services
Professional Requirements
Ensured by Disclosure and Barring Service Check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
