Location: Andover

Hours: 39 hours per week – Monday‑Friday

Shift Pattern: Generally Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend or out of hours work

Rate of Pay: Competitive

Background

Children supported by the service may present with a history of trauma and adversity, experiences of disrupted attachment, developmental delays, educational and learning challenges, emotional distress, health and well‑being needs, and behaviours that reflect unmet needs or difficulty with regulation. The post holder will bring a trauma‑informed, developmentally appropriate and relational approach to understanding and responding to these challenges.

The Role

We’re seeking a Registered Manager to lead our Andover Children’s Home in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives while shaping a high‑performing, compassionate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Children’s Home, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, taking responsibility for all safeguarding referrals and procedures.
  • Inspire and supervise a dedicated team, ensuring high standards of care and professional development.
  • Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and external agencies to deliver holistic, therapeutic support.
  • Manage budgets, staffing rosters, and care plans with precision and empathy.
  • Maintain strong relationships with families, commissioners, and the wider community.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare within the last 5 years
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory/management role
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to child protection
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Desirable:

  • Has completed, or is studying/committed to completing Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Previous experience as a Designated Safeguarding Officer
  • Experience writing reports and attending reviews
