The occupational health service at United Lincolnshire teaching hospitals NHS trust is looking to recruit suitably experienced registered nurses to join their established Occupational health nursing team. The Corporate HR department’s Occupational Health Service which recently achieved SEQOHS accreditation comprises a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Health Consultants, Specialist Nurse Practitioners, clinic nurses, technicians, counsellors, and medical administrators. The service supports our host trust, the wider NHS community in Lincolnshire, as well as a growing number of external clients.
We are a paper light service so excellent IT skills are must. You must also be comfortable communicating with clients both face to face but also virtually via the telephone & video calls and provision of advice via emails.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking workplace immunity checks
- Provision of workplace vaccination clinics
- Fitness for work assessments
- Management of inoculation and blood exposure incidents
- Assist with the management of contract tracing and outbreak follow‑up
- Participate in departmental clinical audit and service development work.
- Our departments are based at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital Boston & Grantham and district hospital and you will work from one of these locations. However, you must be willing to travel to provide cross‑cover for clinics at other sites, for attendance at department meetings and occasional clinics at external locations.
Qualifications
- Current UK NMC Level one registration as a Registered Nurse
- Degree level qualification in Adult Branch nursing (RN Adult/RGN) or equivalent.
- Be trained to UKHSA level and able to deliver Immunisation clinics (for a broad range of vaccinations) in line with Department of Health and Green book guidance
- Audiometry & Spirometry trained with in date certificates
Experience
- Community nursing experience e.g. Practice/School or District Nursing or A&E/UTC/Sexual Health or within nurse led clinic’s
- Experience of undertaking patient assessments both face to face via the telephone or via emails
- Experience of working autonomously with minimal supervision
- Occupational Health Experience
- Experienced in managing blood borne virus exposures & knowledge of blood borne virus
- Understanding of Health & Safety Legislation
- Infection control experience
- Knowledge of current Occupational Health issues
- Good planning, organisational and analytical skills
- Computer Literate including Excel, Word and electronic databases
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to deal effectively with difficult and sensitive issues
- Ability to produce accurate documents
- Ability to manage own workload and excellent time management skills
- Is a car driver and has ability to travel between sites will be required and occasional to visit external customers.
