Description
Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides level 2 rehabilitation services for male patients with mental health disorders. The residential area is Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire. Services include neuropsychiatry support, support for older people and dementia, community-focused rehabilitation, and support for severe and enduring mental health conditions.
The hospital is not a 24/7 acute hospital, but it can provide support to acute patients via dementia services and for those requiring an alternative setting to an acute psychiatric ward. Admissions may also occur due to placement breakdowns or from prison settings.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team committed to patient wellbeing. Using proven therapies, you will help people move forward with confidence, building a healthier future. You will assist qualified staff with assessment and implementation of individual care plans, undertaking routine tasks as directed to facilitate wellbeing, dignity, and treatment.
- Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
- Assess, plan and deliver nursing care with the patient and their carers/family, adopting patient choice and acting as the patient’s named nurse.
- Accurately observe and engage with patients to assess needs and evaluate progress.
- Monitor and review nursing care plans.

What you’ll bring to the team
Essential for the role
- Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration.
- Completed preceptorship programme.
- At least 6–12 months of post-registration experience within an eating disorder unit.
- Good understanding of NMC standards, professional practice and safeguarding requirements.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.

- Experience working within an eating disorder or mental health setting.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
- Positive attitude towards change and quality improvement.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
