Bids and Tenders Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Hillington, Glasgow

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum, DOE & Car Allowance

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Hours: 40 Hours (8am – 5pm)

Responsibilities

  • Analysing detailed tender documents (ITTs) to identify the specific Electrical scope of work, project risks, and technical requirements.
  • Organising preparation timelines and managing the submission process across complex bidding cycles spanning weeks or months.
  • Conducting technical site visits to assess local ground conditions, constraints, and project viability first‑hand.
  • Building detailed economic budgets using high‑level Excel, incorporating pricing from manufacturers, contractors, and delivery teams.
  • Developing project construction schedules and cost projections in collaboration with our engineering and planning divisions.
  • Collaborating with internal departments including Quality, Logistics, H&S, and Environment to gather critical tender compliance data.
  • Analysing and comparing external supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure full alignment with tender specifications.
  • Attending client clarification meetings and managing post‑submission technical queries through to a successful project handover.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred (experience within construction or a CDM site environment is desirable).
  • A degree in Engineering (Electrical).
  • Open to entry‑level or individuals with a background in electrical infrastructure, procurement, or planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and MS Project for complex calculations and project scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Spanish or other European languages (French, Italian, German, Portuguese) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical capacity to evaluate technical specifications and calculate precise electrical plant, cabling, and switchgear cost estimations.
  • Exceptional organisational skills to successfully manage multiple high‑pressure bidding deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across engineering, safety, and commercial teams to coordinate compliance data.
  • Full flexibility to travel occasionally to client meetings and various project site locations as required.
