An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as Service Engineer – Decon, working at our Leeds office.

£14 per hour

About the role

The Decon Service Engineer will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the hire fleet, customer equipment and all company owned equipment and stock associated with the service workshop department. Delivering a first-class, high-quality service offering for Mobile Decon hire, service and equipment sales which positions Thermac as the market leader and the customer’s first choice.

Using technical expertise to provide immediate advice to customers when required and supporting the sales team to ensure the customer is given the best solution at point of sale. Attending breakdowns or repairs when needed and supporting the business with delivery and collection of the units when required.

Role responsibilities

  • To maintain the hire fleet and associated equipment for the Mobile Decon department to the highest standard and in line with company and legal guidelines
  • To service and repair all equipment (including cross hire and customer’s own) in line with schedules.
  • To work with colleagues to organise, plan, deliver and collect equipment for hire in a prompt and professional manner
  • To assist the sales team by promptly identifying damages to hire equipment to ensure charges are raised
  • To build equipment for customer hire or equipment sales and write adequate procedures that are suitable and sufficient
  • To carry out a health check analysis on Thermac owned equipment at regular intervals and recommend to Engineering manager a life cycle and future purchase needs
  • To prepare comprehensive reports as required for both customers, and line manager
  • To be responsible for own stock provision conducting monthly stock takes ensuring stock is always available with minimum levels set and all stock is fully utilised
  • To keep the syrinx system up to date and accurate for works, hire availability and stock status
  • To ensure prioritisation of workloads is managed effectively.
  • To identify and implement areas for continual improvement within the Decon department
  • To eliminate or reduce lost hires or lost business through effective management of workloads
  • To remain aware of competitor activity and make appropriate recommendations
  • To work closely with R&D manager to ensure the business is always at the forefront when introducing new products/equipment to the Decon department
  • To attend customer site visits when required
  • To provide hands on support to other departments in busy periods and absence
  • To provide technical support for sales, marketing and non-engineering roles
  • To keep work area tidy, organised, stock correctly located and free from clutter at all times
  • To carry out any other appropriate duties as requested by Senior Management

Health & Safety Duties & Responsibilities

  • To participate in any communication activities through formal and informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas
  • To ensure all contractors and visitors to site follow correct signing in and induction procedure
  • To ensure that the Thermac safety image is reflected positively through your actions
  • To ensure that you have received the necessary training so that you can competently carry out your duties and responsibilities
  • To acknowledge and accept a personal responsibility for safety
  • To readily raise any concerns over Health & Safety breaches in accordance with Company Procedure
  • You will be required to ensure that safety initiatives are implemented within areas of your control

Critical Performance Measures (CPM’s/Objectives)

  • Turnaround time for hire equipment is managed effectively with no missed opportunities for the sales teams
  • All work is prioritised by date and turnaround targets are met (5 days)
  • Ensure all equipment within the Decon department has safe systems of work and specific and adequate work instructions for customer use
  • To ensure all revenue for labour, chargeable repairs and damages for the Decon department are billed appropriately
  • To report on competitor activity with recommendations
  • To work towards zero credit to customers for poor quality service
  • To work towards zero customer complaints for poor quality service
  • To carry out monthly stock take and working towards 100% accuracy month on month
  • All safety issues, accidents and/or near misses are reported

About you

  • Electrical and Mechanical engineering qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical competence
  • Well organised, conscientious and hard working
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Adaptable and flexible in attitude
  • Customer service focus – ability to identify sales opportunities where appropriate
  • Full UK driving licence
