Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid Working)Salary: Up to £70,000 + Benefits

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join its London team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role within a respected ground engineering team, working on a broad range of projects across the built environment.

The business delivers engineering and environmental services across sectors including residential, commercial, education, healthcare, regeneration and infrastructure, with a strong focus on technical quality, collaboration and sustainable design.

The Role

As an Associate Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead the delivery of geotechnical projects from initial investigation through to detailed design and construction support. You will work closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines while helping to develop junior team members and strengthen existing client relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing geotechnical and geo-environmental projects.
  • Designing and supervising ground investigations.
  • Producing interpretative reports and geotechnical assessments.
  • Undertaking foundation, retaining wall, earthworks and slope stability assessments.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and resources.
  • Liaising directly with clients, contractors and project teams.
  • Supporting business development and identifying new opportunities.
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the geotechnical team.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status with ICE, the Geological Society or equivalent.
  • Strong consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience delivering projects across a variety of development sectors.
  • Excellent technical reporting and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience managing projects and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong communication and client-facing abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to develop client relationships.
