We’re the UK’s largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports around Britain, handling around one quarter of the UK’s seaborne trade and contributing £7.5 billion to the economy each year.
We’re currently looking to recruit an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team in Southampton. Working in a team of four, you will play a key role in delivering preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of assets, including radar equipment, VHF radio systems, CCTV networks and X‑ray machines.
Based at the Port of Southampton you will need a full UK driving licence to travel across the port estate, be comfortable working at height and over/on water, and be available for a 1‑in‑4 on‑call roster to provide 24/7 coverage.
Accountabilities
- Plan and carry out preventive and reactive maintenance activities for radar, CCTV, access control, weather stations, and other electronic equipment.
- Perform electronic testing, inspection and fault finding down to component level, and carry out remedial work.
- Work safely, assist with the collation and updating of risk assessments, and follow ABP’s safe systems of work.
- Complete relevant paperwork and provide Mainsaver administrators with sufficient information to keep the system up to date.
Skills & Experience
- HNC in electronics or an equivalent qualification.
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to work at heights of 30 metres or more.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including on‑call duties.
- Knowledge of radar systems, VHF radios, CCTV and X‑ray equipment.
- Experience with software integration and coding for bespoke assets such as tide and weather stations.
- Electronics or communications knowledge.
- PLC knowledge.
- Understanding of network systems.
