12hr Day Shift (Blocks of 2s & 3s)

To maintain the site assets to achieve optimum operational efficiency, statutory and customer compliance whilst complying with all H&S requirements.

Role Description

Effective & efficient maintenance of the site’s assets from a mechanical, electrical or process perspective. Execute work schedule, PPMs, breakdowns, capital and CI work streams.

Help the site to achieve optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the group supply function: safety, cost, delivery, quality.

Work with the site Engineering, Team, Senior Leadership Team, Group Engineering and Projects Team to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

Safety, Quality, Hygiene – Ensure due regard to own safety and that of others. Strict adherence to all H&S work policies (Lock out/Tag, Permit to Work/Enter). Carry out duties to maintain GMP standards and statutory safety requirements. Complete and action risk assessments. Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness.

Reducing customer complaints and wastage through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.

Operations Management – Work with the Area Coordinator to establish clear objectives and priorities. Record work carried out with regards to PPMs, breakdowns, repairs and modifications. Take ownership of issues to ensure follow‑up and closure. Assist with training and support other departments. Identify own training needs and agree a plan with manager.

Continuous Improvement – Promote and comply with 5S, GMP and other continuous improvement tools to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction. Review performance and implement improvement opportunities.

Communication – Ensure succinct and accurate verbal and written communication (handovers, end/start of shift reporting), daily status reporting, and liaise with Engineering and Manufacturing teams. Communicate with Engineering Stores to ensure spare availability.

Role Requirements

Completed recognised and relevant engineering apprenticeship, preferably multi‑skilled.

Experience in FMCG manufacturing environment.

PC literate.

Experience using CMMS, preferably SAP.

Experience within a regulated environment using Permit to Work systems and dynamic risk assessments.

Good working knowledge of problem‑solving techniques such as fault finding and root cause analysis to close out actions to permanent fix.

Ability to read and understand technical manuals and engineering drawings.

Advanced diagnostic skills, mechanical, electrical, PLC and process.
