Supplier Quality & Development Engineer – China

Role: Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

Location: Wenzhou, China (regional travel required)

Role Overview

Responsible for supplier quality management and development within the China supply chain (with a focus on Wenzhou), ensuring that key machined valve components meet technical requirements, maintain consistent quality, and are delivered on time. This role requires frequent on‑site engagement with suppliers to drive process optimisation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit and work on‑site with suppliers to assess the stability and control of manufacturing processes
• Oversee machining, forging, and welding processes to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
• Conduct product inspections and witness key quality activities (e.g. First Article Inspection, material testing)
• Analyse quality issues and drive corrective and preventive actions with suppliers
• Support suppliers in improving manufacturing processes, increasing capability, and reducing defect rates
• Perform supplier quality audits and continuously monitor supplier performance
• Collect and analyse quality data, and provide regular reports to Quality and Purchasing teams
• Support supply chain activities related to delivery and inspection requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Background in mechanical, manufacturing, or a related discipline (diploma or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years’ experience in machining or precision manufacturing
• Strong understanding of machining processes with hands‑on problem‑solving ability
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Familiarity with forging, heat treatment, and non‑destructive testing (UT, PT, MT)
• Experience with quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001)
• Proficient in the use of inspection tools (callipers, micrometres, height gauges, etc.) and measurement equipment
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with experience working with suppliers
• Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with valve components or similar sector
• Familiarity with CMM, FARO, or similar inspection equipment
• Experience in supplier development or quality improvement projects
