Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design for manufacture.
  • Perform CAD activities including conceptual design, 3D and 2D modelling, and create component and complex assembly drawings.
  • Create manufacturing drawings with a clear understanding of Design for Manufacture principles.
  • Generate deliverable documentation such as manuals, installation and maintenance instructions.

Required Skills (Technical Competency)

  • Familiar with structural design practices and methodologies.
  • Experience designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry power transmission systems, gear and gearbox.
  • Knowledge of subsystems that influence mechanical design and layout.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD package; Solid Edge experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret and create high‑quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, including GD&T.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in an engineering design role with rotating machinery.
  • Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearbox.
  • Appreciation of bolted joint analysis and shock assessment for geared transmission systems.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and detail‑oriented skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
