Alecto Recruitment is working with a well‑established and growing business operating within the heavy plant, recycling and materials processing sector. Salary & Benefits

• Salary: £40,000 – £45,000, depending on experience.
• Overtime available.
• Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
• Occasional Saturday mornings, 7:00 am – 12:00 pm.
• 28 days holiday, including Bank Holidays.
• Permanent, full‑time position.
• Supportive engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a fleet of heavy plant machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults.
• Service and maintain HGVs, material handlers, excavators, loading shovels, crushers, trommels and screening equipment.
• Complete breakdown repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Accurately complete maintenance records and service documentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working on heavy plant, construction plant, quarry equipment, recycling machinery or agricultural equipment.
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault‑finding skills.
• Basic electrical diagnostic knowledge (12 v / 24 v systems desirable).
• Ability to work independently and within a busy engineering team.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (desirable).

We welcome experienced Heavy Plant Fitter, Plant Engineer, Mobile Plant Engineer, Mechanical Fitter or Hydraulic Engineer candidates with strong skills in preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs.
