Job Overview
Leonardo UK is looking for a Mission Systems Field Service Engineer based in Basildon. The role delivers cutting‑edge communication and mission systems across UK and international defence platforms, acting as the front‑line technical representative and ensuring operational readiness throughout the system lifecycle.
Salary range: £37,318 – £45,000, linked to an internal grade‑based compensation framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Support product development and in‑service support.
- Integrate, test and accept new or upgraded systems.
- Design support solutions and prepare detailed documentation.
- Provide field support at customer locations (UK and abroad).
- Remote support of deployed units.
- Assist with customer training.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or HNC degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
- Experience as a mission system operator or maintainer.
- Familiarity with IP networking and routing, RF and antenna systems, cryptographic devices and key management, message handling systems, diagnostics tools and electronic test equipment, technical documentation and report writing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Expectations
- Regular off‑site field service work with significant travel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Full medical fitness suitable for potential deployment to military platforms.
- Advanced skills in MS Office (especially Word with styles, paragraph numbering, linked PDFs) and PowerPoint or Visio.
- Good attitude, willingness to learn and adaptability.
Security Clearance
The role requires pre‑employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional Personnel Security Controls (National Security Vetting) may apply, including eligibility for the Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
