The Opportunity

To lead, motivate, manage and develop employees and contractors to achieve required customer service levels without compromising Health, Safety, Environment or legislative accountabilities. Produce work to relevant standards and procedures within defined budgets. Continuously improve processes and systems to maximise availability of business assets. Lead and develop projects for internal customers utilising external contractors as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise at all levels across the site and with external contractors/suppliers to provide colleagues with the best achievable environment, infrastructure, equipment and support systems.
  • Ensure all legislative documentation and systems, especially relating to Health & Safety and the Environment, are up to date, relevant, implemented appropriately and available for audit.
  • Audit and report on workplace activity, including systematic checks of all internally and externally resourced works performed on site.
  • Deliver effective resource planning and performance for internal or external resource through continuous review and workload assignment.
  • Measure and report on all aspects of departmental performance and effectiveness through the management of departmental Key Performance Indicators.
  • Forecast and implement resource models that maximise the use of non‑operational hours, planning and resourcing weekend and night shift work.
  • Manage facilities contractors by coordinating with stakeholders to ensure all criteria are met for site attendance and supervise works to comply with H, S & E and quality standards.
  • Drive the RS Appraisal Process through regular and effective one‑to‑one sessions.
  • Empower team members to take ownership and responsibility, fostering a high‑performance culture.
  • Manage the team’s training requirements to maintain and develop technical knowledge.
  • Manage own development proactively and demonstrate role‑model behaviour at all times.

Org Structure

The role reports directly to the Corby Facilities Manager. It has nominally 11 direct reports and responsibility for several contractor and apprentice roles.

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised trade qualification (HNC desirable).
  • Demonstrable, influential people‑management skills.
  • Health & Safety first attitude with relevant H&S legislation knowledge.
  • Self‑managing with the ability to plan and manage priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to all levels of the business.
  • Technical proficiency with strong analytical and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a professional image and approach at all times.
  • Experience working in a time‑critical, distribution, operational or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and PPMS.
  • Experience of PLC systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC and building management systems.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience of project management.
  • Previous experience within a facilities department.
  • Previous experience managing diversely skilled groups to achieve excellent output.
