Role Description
We are seeking a full‑time, mobile Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Engineer to join our growing team, covering Manchester and neighbouring areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and remedial works on a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. You will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with current legislation and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on HVAC systems.
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to restore equipment performance.
- Complete remedial and minor installation works as required.
- Commission new and replacement HVAC equipment.
- Optimise system performance and identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements.
- Complete service documentation and reports accurately in accordance with company procedures.
- Liaise professionally with clients, site representatives, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, F‑Gas regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota as required.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service at all times.
Qualifications & Experience – Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the commercial HVAC industry.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of commercial air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and heat pump systems.
- City & Guilds 2079 Level 2 Award in F‑Gas and ODS Regulations (Category 1).
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, preventive maintenance, and system optimisation.
- Good understanding of HVAC layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations, F‑Gas legislation, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with a methodical approach to fault finding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel across Manchester and neighbouring areas.
Desirable Qualifications
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- IPAF and PASMA certifications.
- CSCS or ECS card.
- Manufacturer training and experience with Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Carrier, Toshiba, or similar equipment.
- Experience working on VRF/VRV systems, chillers, AHUs, and commercial heating systems.
- Experience using CAFM systems and electronic service reporting software.
