Consultant Clinical Scientist (Equipment & Dosimetry)

A vacancy for a Clinical Scientist to join our busy department supporting specialist cancer services to the Highlands & Islands of Scotland. The department is equipped with two Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, a Siemens Somatom Confidence RT Pro CT Scanner, and access to MRI and PET‑CT. Work is carried out with RayStation Treatment Planning and the RayCare Oncology Management System. Surface‑guided radiotherapy (AlignRT) and transit dosimetry (Radcalc EPID) are used routinely.

The postholder will lead the Equipment and Dosimetry section and manage a small team of scientists and technologists providing this service for the Department of Clinical Oncology. The small departmental environment also requires cover across the wider physics team. Project work and the development of specific areas of interest are encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Equipment and Dosimetry section.
  • Manage a small team of scientists and technologists.
  • Provide equipment and dosimetry support for the Department of Clinical Oncology.
  • Cover wider physics team duties as required.
  • Undertake project work and develop specific areas of interest.
