Job Description:

Main Duties And Responsibilities

Licensing & Regulatory experience (Licensing Act 2003/Gambling Act 2005 and other regulatory elements ) (Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification desirable)

Producing relevant correspondence, answering queries, providing advice, verification of applications.

Preparation of invoices and monitoring progress.

Inspecting and enforcing relevant statutory provisions in all premises and circumstances where the Council is the enforcing authority.

Investigating complaints and service requests that are received by the Department

Producing relevant correspondence.Preparing legal notices and other such documents as required.Checking compliance with relevant requirements, preparing prosecution files and acting as a witness in court proceedings and at Sub-Committee hearings

Initiating proposals for service developments in consultation with the Service Manager.

Participating in the implementation of systems to ensure that high quality data is maintained by the Section

The post holder will have a responsibility for:

Inspecting and enforcing relevant statutory provisions in all premises and circumstances where the Council is the enforcing authority.

Participating in the Section’s sampling programme as required.

Participating in the training and induction of staff and/or visitors as and when necessary.

Contributing to the formulation and implementation of the relevant objectives of the Departmental and Divisional Business Plans in accordance with targets.

Participating in initiatives and projects as allocated.

Initiating proposals for service developments in consultation with the Service Manager.

Assisting in the preparation of bids and grant applications where necessary.

Participating in partnership working within the Council and with external organisations and groups where necessary.

Participating in the risk management process associated with service delivery.

Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, standards, guidance notes and other information to develop any appropriate specialist knowledge of relevant subject areas.

Participating in the implementation of systems to ensure that high quality data is maintained by the Section.

Representing the Department at meetings where necessary.

Actively promoting the service through preparation of information and attendance at promotional events.

Undertaking work on Departmental issues as determined by the Service Manager.

Preparing reports for consideration by Management.

Contributing to work towards the overall policy objectives of the Council.

Complying with the Council’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Departmental Instructions.

Complying with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Safety Policy.

Contributing to the Department’s work on Quality Assurance and Environmental Management.

Complying with the Council’s Customer Care Code and preparing comprehensive replies and responses to enquiries and complaints.

Participating in the Council’s Great Performance Conversation scheme.

Adhering to Council policies relating to equalities and environmental issues.

Undertaking any training relevant to the post to maintain competency.
