Health & Safety Manager – £40,000

Permanent | Full-Time | Goldthorpe

Representing our client at Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd

Be the driving force behind a safer, smarter, high‑performing manufacturing site.

Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd is excited to partner with a leading oil and chemical manufacturer in Goldthorpe as they recruit a Health & Safety Manager to take full ownership of site safety, compliance, and culture. This is a standout opportunity for a confident, forward‑thinking H&S professional who wants to make a visible impact in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

If you’re passionate about raising standards, influencing behaviour, and embedding a safety‑first mindset across an entire site, this role gives you the platform — and the autonomy — to do exactly that.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the H&S strategy — developing and maintaining a robust management system aligned with legal standards and ISO 45001 principles.
  • Partnering with the CEO — reporting performance, driving improvements, and shaping long‑term safety direction.
  • Owning risk management — authoring SOPs, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work across blending and automated packaging operations.
  • Conducting audits and inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and maintain safe liquid containment systems.
  • Delivering hands‑on training for staff, contractors, and new starters on COSHH, DSEAR, chemical handling, and emergency response.
  • Leading investigations into accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Acting as the main HSE contact — representing the business with regulators and environmental authorities.
  • Championing a proactive, collaborative safety culture across the plant, warehouse, and wider workforce.

What We’re Looking For

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in chemical, oil, process manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of COSHH, DSEAR, and liquid containment systems.
  • Confident in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex regulations into clear, practical guidance.
  • A natural coach who can influence behaviour and build trust across all levels.

Desirable Extras

  • Experience managing ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 systems.
  • Familiarity with digital H&S reporting tools and incident logging platforms.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Full autonomy to shape and elevate the site’s safety culture.
  • Direct influence at senior level — reporting straight to the CEO.
  • A stable, respected manufacturing business with strong values.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including 21 days holiday + bank holidays and pension scheme.
  • A role where your expertise genuinely protects people, operations, and the future of the business.
