To support us in achieving our vision we are currently recruiting a Community Safety Street Intervention Officer.

Location: Birmingham

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, shifts as per site rota, 5 days out of 7, 8 hours shifts between 06:00am – 22:00pm.

Salary: £14.50 per hour. Weekly Pay. Immediate Start.

Job Purpose

To provide a proactive and visible authority presence across Birmingham’s communities, enhancing residents’ quality of life and promoting safer, stronger neighbourhoods. The role focuses on early intervention, prevention, and enforcement of anti‑social behaviour (ASB), including breaches of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), through the Council’s ‘Engage, Educate, Enforce’ approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct high‑visibility patrols to deter ASB and increase community safety.
  • Investigate ASB reports and enforce legislation using delegated powers (e.g., FPNs, CPNs, injunctions).
  • Engage with communities and partners to address complex needs and promote inclusion.
  • Support initiatives targeting car cruising, off‑road biking, and ASB in parks and estates.
  • Collaborate with youth services and internal teams to reduce crime and intolerance.
  • Provide evidence for legal proceedings and maintain accurate records.
  • Deliver advice on community safety and crime prevention.
  • Work jointly with Police, CCTV, and other agencies to respond to incidents and deliver safety initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Contribute to service planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Education/Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE’s including English and Maths or ability to demonstrate ability to work at this level through experience.
  • Having or being willing to work towards possessing an additional relevant qualification e.g. ASB/Criminal law, enforcement etc.

Experience

  • Significant experience in customer service and enforcement/ASB environments.
  • Experience working in partnership‑based settings.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong investigative, written, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to apply legislation, solve problems, and manage workload independently.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Capable of producing reports and representing the Council professionally.
