Job Overview
We are recruiting a Support Chef Manager to join our regional team in Cornwall and Devon, supporting our state school portfolio. The role will provide hands‑on support to school‑based catering teams, delivering exceptional food experiences for pupils and staff.
Employment: 46 weeks per year (term time only). Working days: Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Step into leadership roles when required, providing hands‑on support to school‑based catering teams.
- Conduct student‑led food activities, including engaging pop‑ups, meetings with school councils, and support in‑unit teams with craft skills.
- Ensure smooth kitchen operations and consistent service delivery across a number of schools.
- Prepare fresh, high‑quality food from scratch in line with our culinary standards and nutritional ethos.
- Uphold the highest standards of food safety, health and safety, and kitchen hygiene.
- Support menu planning, stock control, food ordering, and production levels in line with budgetary and operational requirements.
- Support projects including re‑launches, sales and mobilisation plans.
- Provide occasional overnight stays across the year.
Ideal Candidate
- Genuinely passionate about food, service, and positively impacting young people’s daily experience.
- Effective communicator and team player, able to inspire and lead teams in a positive and supportive way.
- Financially aware, with the ability to manage costs and resources efficiently.
- Skilled chef with a strong culinary background and relevant experience or qualifications.
