Health & Safety Manager

Salary: £60,000 + Package

Location: Cannock

Reporting To: Managing Director / Operations Director

About the Role

We are a medium‑sized main contractor specialising in industrial refurbishment projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of our health and safety function and provide strong leadership across multiple projects.

This role is suited to a confident and proactive professional who can hit the ground running, work independently, and support operational teams in maintaining the highest standards of health and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company’s health and safety systems and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Advise project teams on legal requirements, risk management, and best practice.
  • Review and approve RAMS and other safety documentation.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training, and safety briefings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
  • Support client audits, accreditations, and pre‑qualification submissions.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.

Requirements

  • Proven Health & Safety management experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience working for a main contractor, ideally within industrial refurbishment or industrial construction environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to influence site teams and drive compliance across multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and reporting skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate (minimum requirement)
  • Membership of IOSH (preferred)
