Welsh‑Speaking Behaviour Support Worker – Primary School | Full‑Time

Location: Tonypandy, CF40, Daily Pay: £92.63

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker who connects easily with children and stays calm under pressure? A friendly and nurturing Welsh‑medium primary school in Tonypandy is seeking a behaviour support worker to join their team and provide support to pupils who may struggle with behaviour, emotions, or social skills.

Your Role in a Primary School Setting

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you’ll work closely with teaching staff and support teams to create a calm, positive environment for learners. You’ll help children build confidence, develop positive behaviour strategies, and feel included in school life.

  • Working 1:1 or in small groups with children needing emotional or behavioural support
  • Using play, routine, and positive reinforcement to help pupils manage feelings
  • Supporting learning by helping pupils stay focused and engaged
  • De‑escalating challenging behaviour in a sensitive and child‑friendly way
  • Logging key incidents and contributing to behaviour support plans
  • Being a friendly, consistent presence that children can rely on

We’re Looking For Someone Who

  • Is fluent in Welsh (spoken and written)
  • Is calm, kind, and approachable, even in difficult situations
  • Has strong communication skills with young children
  • MAY have experience in youth work, care, childcare, mentoring, coaching or similar roles
  • Understands the emotional and social needs of primary‑aged pupils
  • Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically

Requirements

You’ll need (or be happy to apply for):

  • EWC registration (Learning Support Worker category)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Two recent references
