Specialist Occupational Therapist – Neurosciences & Hyper Acute Rehab

We are seeking an experienced B6 Occupational Therapist for a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity. The position is full‑time (1 WTE) with 60 % of hours in neuro‑surgery & neurology services and 40 % in the newly created Hyper‑Acute Rehab team.
The post holder will be part of the wider neurosciences service, working closely with all relevant therapy teams and supporting the service to deliver patient care across a 7‑day roster including weekends and bank holidays.
The role offers an opportunity to lead and develop the therapy service, building on existing senior clinical and operational leadership and providing strategic development to the neurosciences team.
- Provide senior clinical and operational leadership alongside senior therapists.
- Deliver patient care across a 7‑day service, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Perform neuro‑specific assessments, goal‑directed treatments and multi‑therapy discharge planning.
- Advise and assess patients on outlying wards across the Trust.
- Collaborate with local community services, specialist regional units and local DGHs.
- Lead and support audit, research and service development initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate experience in acute hospital setting with neurological patients and assessments.
- Proven senior experience in acute early rehabilitation of patients with complex needs.
- Demonstrated desire and reasons for working in acute neurological rehabilitation and within UHS.
- Evidence of personal development within acute neurosciences.
- Robust knowledge and understanding of NHS systems.
- Postgraduate experience in supervising other staff and students.
Desirable Skills
- Evidence of providing teaching to therapy staff and students.
- Demonstrable leadership skills.
