Clinical Support Worker Night Nursing Service

Band 3 Health Care Assistant – Night Nursing Team. Permanent, 36 hours per week (8:30 – 23:00). Full‑time remote and rural home settings within the Integrated Care Community (ICC).

Job Summary

Provide high‑quality care to patients in their own homes, working largely alone and unsupervised under the direction of a registered health care professional. Maintain clinical observations, record patient information, and support patients with complex needs in a community setting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated patient nursing and care duties, including clinical observations and accurate recording of patient information.
  • Work independently and manage care in remote rural settings.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Support patient self‑management and independence.
  • Adhere to all NHS policies, safeguarding, GDPR, and health & safety legislation.

Key Skills & Aptitudes

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Strong time‑keeping, planning and prioritisation abilities.
  • Basic IT skills for electronic patient records.
  • Analytical and judgement skills for patient assessment.
  • Empathy, motivation, and proactive approach to care.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and independently or as part of a team.
  • Understanding of holistic patient‑centred care and its procedures.
  • Experience with venepuncture (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent competency workbook.
  • National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencement.
  • Numeracy and literacy Level 2.
  • Clinical observations knowledge and data protection legislation.
  • Relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience working in health or social care.
  • Experience performing and recording clinical observations.
  • Knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of GDPR, confidentiality and boundaries.
  • Familiarity with NHS and social care policies.
  • Experience within the Trust (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Trust business and policies.

Background Check

This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. DBS charges (Standard £28.00, Enhanced £56.00) will be deducted from salary over the first four months.

Salary

£25,760 to £27,476 per annum (pro‑rated for 36 hrs per week).
