Healthcare Support Worker – University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Full‑time on‑site position at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Southampton. The role works under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or healthcare professional in adult or child wards or outpatient areas, providing high‑standard personal care and support to patients.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Assessment Unit (20hrswk)Senior Healthcare Assistant supporting the nursing staff in assessing and advising women with early pregnancy or acute gynaecological issues. Work Monday to Saturday 8:30am–7pm.
- Pre‑Assessment Team – Women and Newborn Care Group (15hrswk)Assist in the fit‑and‑well pre‑operative assessment service, reviewing patient questionnaires and completing pre‑assessments for breast and gynaecology pathways. Work Monday to Friday 7:30am–5pm, with potential weekend work.
- Day Surgery Unit – Women and Newborn Care Group (Full‑time 37.5hrswk)Support admission and discharge of patients undergoing gynaecology and breast surgeries, providing care pre‑ and post‑operatively in a small friendly unit.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
- Flexibility to work part‑time or full‑time schedules as required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to support patients and families with empathy and professionalism.
Training & Development
All successful applicants will complete a 1‑week full‑time induction, receive support to achieve the Care Certificate, and benefit from continuous training and development opportunities.
