Job Details
- Salary – Pay Points 4-5, £18,656 – £18,951 actual per annum (£25,185 – £25,583 FTE)
- Contract – Temporary (initially to 31 December 2026), possibility to extend.
- Hours – 32 hours per week, part‑time (Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30).
- Term time plus one week
- Start date – 1 September 2026.
Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join our team at North Elmham Primary School and Nursery. The role includes supporting the children attending the Nursery setting, delivering a suitable programme of activities, caring for personal needs, acting as a key worker for selected children and compiling development records, while working with the manager, deputy manager and room supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children in the Nursery setting and provide before‑ and after‑school care for Nursery and school‑aged children.
- Deliver a suitable programme of activities and care.
- Act as a key worker for a small number of children and maintain records of their development.
- Involve parents/carers in their child’s progress and maintain positive relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
- Suitable early years or childcare qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
- Experience working in an early years setting (Nursery or classroom).
- Love of the outdoors.
- Awareness of the Foundation Stage curriculum and experience with the online journal, Tapestry.
- Calm, flexible approach and ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake required training, attend meetings and contribute to the school ethos.
Working Hours
The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate at interview but will fall within academy hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30. Nursery care runs from 08:00 to 16:30, Tuesday to Friday during term time.
