Specialist Occupational Therapist – Stroke

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our experienced therapy team on the Acute Stroke Unit at the Royal United Hospital. Our specialist service is supported by an excellent team of stroke consultants, specialist nurses relaying AHPs who are passionate about delivering high‑quality care for our local population, and the therapy team provides comprehensive assessment, early rehabilitation, and supports ongoing recovery planning.

The Acute Stroke Unit delivers hyperacute and acute care to stroke patients admitted to the RUH. The stroke therapy team provides comprehensive assessment, early rehabilitation and identifies specialist pathways for ongoing stroke rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention to patients on the acute stroke unit to optimise independence and create rehabilitation plans.
• Promote acute rehabilitation to patients on the acute stroke unit.
• Provide daily clinical management of Occupational Therapy staff and some junior Physiotherapy staff, and supervise occupational therapy students and apprentices.
• Hold clinical autonomy, manage own caseload, allocate clinical capacity in line with service demands, and coordinate daily service delivery across the hospital.
