Location: Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire
Salary: Up to £29,876 per annum depending on qualifications
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) | 3 on, 3 off with additional shift on 3 day week

As a Waking Night Residential Childcare Worker, you’ll do far more than supervise overnight. You’ll provide stability, comfort and care throughout the night, creating a nurturing environment where children and young people can rest, recover and thrive. Whether it’s offering reassurance after a difficult day, responding calmly to a child’s needs during the night, or ensuring the home is ready to welcome a new day, you’ll play a vital role in helping shape brighter futures.

Night-time can be one of the most important parts of a young person’s day. Your calm and consistent presence can provide the security and reassurance they need to feel safe and cared for.
Working as part of a dedicated residential team, you’ll support children and young people throughout the night, ensuring their wellbeing while maintaining a warm, welcoming and therapeutic home environment. No two nights are ever the same, but every shift offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing overnight care, supervision and emotional reassurance to children and young people
- Promoting a safe, calm and nurturing environment throughout the night
- Conducting regular welfare checks and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Maintaining accurate records and completing night reports to ensure continuity of care
- Helping maintain a clean, organised and welcoming home environment
- Supporting with appointments, activities and transitions when required
- Building positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence
- Working closely with colleagues to deliver exceptional standards of care and support

The Location
Holistic Childcare and Education consists of two specialist homes: Closeburn House and Maben House. Closeburn House supports young people aged 10–16 years, while Maben House supports young people aged 6–16 years. Both homes are within commuting distance of Dumfries, Lockerbie and surrounding areas.
