Senior Social Worker – Children in Care & Care Leavers Service

Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Newcastle City Council’s Children in Care & Care Leavers Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated social worker who is passionate about supporting children in care and young people transitioning into adulthood. You will help young people achieve positive outcomes by delivering high‑quality statutory social work services and building strong, supportive relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload of children in care and care leavers.
  • Complete statutory visits, assessments, care planning and pathway planning.
  • Develop and review care plans that promote the safety, wellbeing and long‑term aspirations of children and young people.
  • Support young people as they transition to independence, ensuring they receive the guidance and services they need.
  • Work in partnership with families, carers, education providers, health professionals and partner agencies.
  • Prepare high‑quality court reports, assessments and case records.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with statutory legislation, local procedures and best practice standards.
  • Champion the voice of the child and ensure their wishes and feelings remain central to all decision‑making.

Qualifications

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Experience working within Children’s Social Care.
  • Previous experience working with Children in Care and/or Care Leavers.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant children’s legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent assessment, report writing and case management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multi‑agency environment.
