Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice

Join Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice. This role offers paid work while you gain a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant qualification over a 15‑month apprenticeship.
Responsibilities & Duties

Duties include:
- Dispensing and supplying medicines.
- Reception and customer service duties.
- Visiting wards and departments and maintaining appropriate drug stock levels.
- Collecting and delivering medicines to and from wards and departments.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will demonstrate respect, confidentiality, teamwork, professionalism, and accurate medication preparation and dispensing.
Apprenticeship Details
• 15‑month fixed‑term apprenticeship in collaboration with Bradford College.
• Initial apprenticeship allowance paid for the first 12 months; payable in line with the Minimum Wage Regulations.
• Apprentices can retain their NHS basic pay if already employed, in line with Agenda for Change apprenticeship pay protection arrangements.
Eligibility
Applicants must be UK, EEA, or EU residents for at least the past three years.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- GCSE English and Maths Level 1 Functional Skills or equivalent; GCSE grade 2/3 (D or E) or above.
Essential Experience:
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication with others.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience dealing with the public/customer service.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
Desirable Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to work independently using own initiative.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods under pressure.
- Ability to deal with verbal aggression constructively.

- Positive attitudes and behaviours, honesty, integrity, and respect for diversity.
- Commitment to learning activities and the Pharmacy competency training package.
Other Information
The applicant will be employed under a fixed‑term Apprenticeship Agreement for 15 months, and the contract status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust’s legal obligations regarding fixed‑term contracts.
