Research Assistant – Study Coordination and Mental Health Research at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK.
Type: Fixed‑term Part‑time (0.3FTE) until 27July2026.
Closing date: 24June2026 (23:59BST).
Responsibilities
- Oversee data collection and data‑flow activities, including participant recruitment and follow‑up.
- Track questionnaires, sleep‑watch data, supplement adherence, and stool‑sample collection.
- Maintain study logs, perform routine data checks, and manage ethics/GDPR documentation.
- Support ongoing research on prebiotic supplementation and perimenopausal symptoms, handling online questionnaires, sleep‑tracking devices, dietary supplements, and stool samples.
- Attend lab meetings, contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the research laboratory, and perform general lab tasks as required.
- Conduct any tasks flexibly or remotely where possible, while remaining a proactive member of the lab team.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in psychology, nutrition, neuroscience, health sciences, public health, biosciences, or a related field.
- Prior research training or experience (e.g., dissertation, research placement, internship, lab role, or data‑collection role).
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work carefully with sensitive participant information.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, including confidence communicating with research participants.
- Proficient with spreadsheets and online data‑collection systems.
- Ability to follow study protocols accurately and demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a calm, professional approach to problem‑solving.
- Interest in nutrition, mental health, sleep, cognition, women’s health, and/or gut‑brain research.
- Understanding of research ethics, confidentiality, and data protection, or willingness to develop this knowledge with training.
