Are you an experienced Day Service Support Worker wanting to progress whilst supporting people to live their best lives?

You will play a key role across our Day Centres in Hertfordshire, supporting individuals to live fulfilling, active, and connected lives.

Main duties of the job

In this rewarding role, you will:

  • Lead and shape inspiring daily programmes, ensuring activities are engaging, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of those who attend. Youll communicate any updates clearly with senior staff and managers, using a positive risk approach to create innovative opportunities that empower individuals and promote independence.
  • Develop and deliver personalised support plans, tailored to each individuals needs and aspirations. Working collaboratively, youll build strong partnerships with families, health professionals, social workers, and other agencies, while acting as a dedicated link worker for named individuals.
  • Take responsibility for medication duties, including safe administration and accurate recording. Youll also support and supervise junior staff in carrying out these tasks, helping to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.

Job responsibilities

As a Senior Support Officer within our Day Services, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals accessing our services. This is a hands-on and rewarding role where you will lead by example, ensuring that those who attend our centres are supported to achieve their goals, maintain independence, and enjoy meaningful daily experiences.

You will take the lead in planning and delivering creative and inclusive activity programmes that reflect the interests, needs, and aspirations of the people we support. Using a positive risk-taking approach, you will help individuals build confidence, develop skills, and remain active members of their community.

A key part of the role involves working closely with service users, their families, and professionals such as social workers and health practitioners to develop and review tailored support plans. As a named link worker, you will build strong, trusting relationships and act as a consistent point of contact, ensuring continuity of care and support.

You will also take on additional responsibilities as a senior member of the team, including supporting, guiding, and supervising junior staff, promoting best practice, and ensuring high standards are maintained across the service. This includes overseeing medication administration, contributing to safeguarding practices, and helping to create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for everyone.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference, confident in taking the lead, and committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred support within a collaborative team.

Person Specification

Experience

  • You need to have experience as a Day Service Support Worker for this role and to hold an RQF Level 2 award or equivalent we will support you with all additional the training you need.
  • Our services require supporting individuals with personal care including bathroom support, mobility aids, and dietary needs (training provided). This includes the use of moving and handling equipment, so it’s important that you’re physically capable of performing these tasks safely and effectively.
