Qualifications

  • Hold 3x GCSEs (including Maths & English) at minimum Grade C/4, or equivalent.
  • Have a full UK manual driving licence and no more than 3 points for minor speeding offences.
  • Be aged 18 or above.

You will initially start on our Urgent Care Assistant training course which lasts a minimum of 5 weeks, before becoming a qualified Urgent Care Assistant. You must be able to commit to the whole training period.

Successful candidates will commence employment with the Trust on 19 October 2026.

Main duties of the job

As a UCA, you will provide care, support and transportation to patients in a variety of community settings. This includes helping patients after a fall, supporting those experiencing a healthcare crisis, or assisting with the assessment and treatment of patients with urgent care needs.

Urgent Care Assistants are also eligible to apply for internal progression opportunities to work their way up the Paramedic career path: Emergency Ambulance Associate, Qualified Ambulance Technician and then Technician to Paramedic Apprenticeship.

Experience

  • Experience of working in a customer care or patient care environment.

  • Empathy and ability to handle sensitive situations assertively and tactfully.
