Overview

We have vacancies at our Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital based in Staplehurst, Kent for Band 3 clinical support workers to join our team. We are a general adolescent hospital, supporting young people admitted informally or under section of the Mental Health Act who present with acute mental health difficulties including eating disorders. We also operate a Health Based Place of Safety, which supports young people who have been detained under section by the police.

Role and responsibilities

  • Focus on risk assessment, management and treatment in a general adolescent hospital setting.
  • Interface with other agencies and contribute to the therapeutic timetable; support treatment around managing mental health and risk.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, support staff, education, family therapists, music therapists, OT’s, psychologists, psychotherapists, medics, social workers, admin and management.
  • Support the care of young people who may engage in behaviours associated with mental distress such as self-harm, agitation, suicidal thoughts and intrusive thoughts.
  • Work across shifts (Earlies, Lates, Long days and nights) as part of a 24/7 service.

Remuneration and conditions

Band 3 clinical support worker role. The average length of stay for young people is around 6-8 weeks with treatment to support safe discharge back to the community. The post holder is expected to have a full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business use (unless exempt by the Equality Act 2010). This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship; all applicants must have valid right to work in the UK at application.
