Pharmacy Assistant – Rotational

Band 2 (with Band 3 progression). We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and adaptable pharmacy assistant with good communication and interpersonal skills to join a friendly, dedicated pharmacy team. You will be supported to progress your career and learn new skills.
Main duties of the job
A rotational pharmacy assistant who works in our busy dispensary providing a range of dispensing duties for patients at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The role also includes work within the receipt and distribution team on a rotational basis, and opportunities to undertake ward‑based training. Upon successful completion of ward‑based training and a portfolio of evidence, you may be eligible to progress into a Band 3 position.
Job responsibilities
Duties within the dispensary include:
- Labelling and dispensing of medicines including blister packs
- Reception duties
Duties within receipt and distribution include:
- Receipt and storage of medicines including expiry date checks
- Replenishment of ward stock
- Delivering medicines to wards when needed
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK; this role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship.
Person Specification
- Experience of working in a team
- Stock control experience
- Good level of numeracy and literacy skills
- 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C (including maths, English language and science)
- Experience of working within a hospital pharmacy
- NVQ Level 2 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
- Knowledge of dispensing processes, procedures and systems
