Patient Pathway Coordinator – Maternity cover

Band 4, Gynaecology, 9‑month fixed‑term contract (part‑time 14 hrs/week) covering a maternity leave. Job ref: 321‑SUWON‑7890899‑B4.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Gynaecology Administration Team at John Radcliffe Hospital Women’s Centre for 9 months (beginning June 2026) covering maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be organised, flexible, team‑oriented, possess exceptional customer service skills and a willingness to learn and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall patient administration support to clinical and administrative teams.
  • Administer all new referrals received via the E‑referral service, triage electronically and log non‑Choose‑and‑Book referrals on EPR, including registration of new patients and updating details.
  • Book, reschedule and cancel outpatient and diagnostic appointments, ensuring capacity is used efficiently and all appointments meet 18‑week RTT / cancer / screening targets.
  • Actively review patient DNAs, liaise with clinical staff and reschedule appointments in line with local processes.
  • Manage and update waiting lists, OP PTL and incomplete lists, ensuring accurate data quality.
  • Provide primary administrative support to consultants and clinicians, including booking follow‑up appointments and preparing correspondence.
  • Produce clinical correspondence using the digital transcription system within the national 7‑day target.
  • Maintain electronic health records, file paperwork, and ensure electronic filing standards are met via Scan IT.
  • Respond to telephone queries and pass clear messages to appropriate staff.
  • Book interpreters and transport for patients, manage patient pathway status and coordinate with external organisations where required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Elective Access Policy, cancer waiting time targets and data quality standards.
  • Assist with inter‑provider transfers, liaise with clinical coders, and support MDT coordination.

Person Specification

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent).
  • Previous NHS experience.

Probation Period: 6 month probationary period. Future benefits recognised for existing Trust staff.
