About the role

  • Work with the multi‑disciplinary team to deliver the Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) across the hub and spokes.
  • Support nursing and medical staff with diagnostic processes, including reading microscope slides and documenting findings.
  • Screen asymptomatic patients for sexually transmitted infections, provide simple advice, and promote treatment, control, and prevention of STIs including HIV.
  • Support the administrative team: cover reception, book patient appointments (walk‑in clinics and central booking system), and signpost prospective patients to appropriate services.
  • Prepare clinical rooms daily for consultation and examination, maintain equipment and ensure infection control standards.
  • Use triage guidelines to advise patients on suitable appointment types when covering reception or the central booking line.
  • Take simple histories from asymptomatic patients using a pre‑determined template, handling sensitive information confidentially.

Qualifications

  • Care Certificate from an Ofqual‑regulated awarding organisation.
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C or above (or grade 4–9) or Maths and English Level 2 functional skills.
  • Experience working as a chaperone in a health‑care setting.
  • Experience working in a reception area or triage in a health‑care setting.

Skills & Experience

  • Highly developed accuracy in venepuncture and point‑of‑care testing.
  • Competent in microscopy with evidence of slide reading proficiency.
  • Experience working within a team.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours and weekends as required.
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable groups and up‑to‑date safeguarding training (adult, child, Level 3).

Salary

£25,760 to £27,476 per annum, pro‑rate.
