Children’s Occupational Therapy – Band 5 to 6 Development Post
We are looking for a highly motivated Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist who wishes to develop specialist skills in community Paediatrics within a supportive team. The role is based near Enfield Town with convenient commuter links from Central London/Hertfordshire.
No experience of children’s OT is necessary, but you must have worked in the United Kingdom as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist. You will receive on‑the‑job training in paediatrics to complete your Band 6 Clinical Competencies over the first 18 months, after which you may transition internally to a Band 6 role.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialised assessment and intervention to children aged 0‑18 years with varying needs in community settings, special schools, clinics, and CDC.
- Work alongside the MDT on integrated pathways, including the joint DCD diagnostic clinic.
- Gain skills in CO‑OP, M‑CIMT and Parent Coaching, and run groups and training sessions for parents and school staff.
- Contribute to service development and in‑service training provision.
- Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service; support quality initiatives within the team.
- Manage a defined caseload of children in the community and special school, working autonomously with access to supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current Band 5 Occupational Therapist working in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness to undertake the Band 6 Competencies framework during the first 18 months.
