Sample Machinist

About the Role

Stratton Mills is an employment agency that provides fashion personnel across the UK. We have a great opportunity for Sample Machinists. Successful candidates will be offered full‑time shifts on a temp‑to‑perm basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Use patterns to create garments.
• Work with a variety of fabrics and garments, including dresses, trousers, and light tailoring.
• Operate machinery such as Lock Stitch, Over Lock, Binder, Chain Stitch Binder, Twin Needle, Cover Stitch, Hemmer, Flat Lock, Button Hole and Button Machine.
• Adjust machines to suit the requirements of the fabrics being worked on.
• Read and understand specification sheets.

Ideal Candidate

• Attention to detail.
• Experience working to targets.
• Excellent understanding of garment construction.
• Ability to work on various fabrics and garments.
• Strong cutting and stitching skills.
• Capability to change machines to suit the fabric.
• Knowledge of reading and understanding specification sheets.
• Minimum of 3 years sewing experience in the industry.
