Job Description:

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Service Technician to join a well-established and growing engineering team. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of plant and construction equipment, with ongoing manufacturer training and career development opportunities available.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of plant machinery and associated equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of plant and construction machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults using modern diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Complete repairs efficiently and accurately, including warranty, customer and internal work.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Attend breakdowns and provide effective on‑site support when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records and job documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues regarding repairs and technical issues.
  • Keep company vehicles, tools and equipment in good working order.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working on plant machinery, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs, commercial vehicles or related heavy equipment.
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software and modern workshop equipment.
  • Able to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working with excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, loading shovels, rollers or other heavy plant equipment.
  • Relevant engineering, mechanical or plant maintenance qualifications.
  • Manufacturer training or industry‑recognised certifications.
  • Experience attending field service call‑outs and breakdowns.
