Role Overview
Our local authority client based in York is looking for a qualified plumber for an immediate start. This is a temporary role for a minimum of 6 months, with the potential to go permanent. The work will involve a mix of residential homes and flats. The role is Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, within a pre‑allocated appointment system in the York district. The rate of pay is up to £25.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
Responsibilities
You will need a proven track record of working in a customer‑focused environment carrying out:
- Building repairs
- Maintenance and renewals, from emergency to other routine reactive repairs, on numerous sites daily to single‑site programmed repairs and refurbishment work.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal applicant will be an experienced, well‑skilled plumber with a residential and/or commercial background. You must have a current UK driving licence and hold the appropriate trade qualifications (NVQ / City and Guilds or equivalent), good organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise a busy and reactive workload. You are expected to carry out the necessary work yourself, at times without supervision, and to liaise with the wider team, following instruction and completing works in a timely manner.
