Role Overview
Our Marine Engineering team in the Humber supports all pilot and survey vessels, and navigation marks across four ports. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter, skilled in diesel engine maintenance and with some auto electrical experience. Marine sector experience is preferred but not essential; the right mechanical skillset and willingness to work in a marine environment are most important.
Responsibilities
As part of a six‑person team you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of marine assets. Tasks are performed in and around the River Humber, requiring confidence to work in a water environment.
Working Pattern
You will work a rotating six‑week roster:
- 4 weeks of days
- 2 weeks of late shifts including weekends
- On‑call requirement included in the rotation
Requirements
- Mechanical fitting skills suited to a varied, hands‑on engineering environment
- Marine experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Confidence working in and around water
- A proactive approach to problem‑solving and teamwork
- Medical examination required before starting
- Random screening for substance abuse and a zero‑tolerance policy
