Job Overview
Engineering Technician to support development projects and manage equipment set‑up and modifications, sample manufacture, testing and evaluation in Wantage, Oxfordshire.
Responsibilities
- Organise and coordinate on‑site trials, find and source documentation for trials (tooling specifications, engineering standards, tool matches).
- Set up required equipment and locate tooling on site.
- Manufacture, measure and evaluate samples; use on‑site equipment for quality checks and determine necessary adjustments.
- Create and maintain safety documentation for equipment, deliver training and liaise with maintenance providers.
- Perform fault finding, provide support for resolution, and undertake maintenance & upkeep responsibilities for the area.
- Support 5S and housekeeping initiatives.
- Act as deputy duty holder when required.
- Travel occasionally to UK and European Crown plants for project trials.
Qualifications / Skills
- Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, plus HNC or equivalent (other engineering qualifications considered).
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering covering development, manufacture, assembly, commissioning or servicing of production tooling and equipment.
- Strong fitter’s skills: assembling tooling, clocking and precision‑setting machines, producing samples to specification.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and data graphs.
- Self‑directed work style, capable of troubleshooting equipment/process issues with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills; able to work under pressure.
