The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join a long-established engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and assembly of bespoke machinery and equipment. Working within a skilled workshop team, the Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for building and assembling machinery to a high standard, contributing to both small batch and larger scale projects in a collaborative environment.
- Preparing mechanical components prior to assembly, including de-burring and reaming
- Assembling complete machines in small batch production
- Supporting the build and assembly of larger, more complex machinery
- Interpreting and working from technical drawings
- Following established build procedures with strong attention to detail
- Testing completed builds
- Working both independently and as part of a team
- Maintaining workshop organisation and cleanliness to a high standard
- Demonstrating a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
Requirements
The successful Mechanical Fitter will have experience within a mechanical assembly, workshop or fitting role, with the ability to read technical drawings highly desirable. You will have a hands‑on approach and a genuine passion for practical engineering, whether gained through work, training or personal projects. Strong attention to detail, a flexible attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Mechanical Assembler, Assembly Technician or Production Fitter.
