Job Overview
Ebsford is an environmental contractor that specialises in restoring and improving natural landscapes across the UK. We create new habitats, enhance aquatic environments, manage invasive plants, protect biodiversity and develop blue–green infrastructure that safeguards wildlife and improves public spaces. We are looking for an agile and flexible fitter to maintain, repair, inspect, and manage company plant and equipment, ensuring maximum operational availability, safety, legal compliance and efficient support of business operations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing schedules for company plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on construction and marine plant.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and undertake repairs both in the workshop and on‑site.
- Maintain generators, excavators, trailers, small plant and associated equipment.
- Inspect, service and maintain portable power tools and lifting accessories.
- Complete pre‑use inspections, safety checks and pre‑delivery inspections for equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and maintenance logs.
- Manage workshop consumables, lubricants and spare parts inventory.
- Maintain plant and equipment stores, ensuring stock control and efficient ordering of parts and consumables.
- Ensure COSHH substances are correctly stored and managed, including spill prevention and environmental compliance.
- Assist with fabrication, welding repairs and modifications to plant and equipment where required.
- Liaise with suppliers and external service providers for specialist repairs or parts.
- Ensure all equipment complies with PUWER, LOLER and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Support operational teams with equipment selection, mobilisation and technical advice.
- Recommend improvement actions to the Director of Operations that will benefit the global operations department.
Qualifications
- 2 years of previous relevant experience.
- NVQ Level3 in Construction Plant or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
- PUWER Inspection or Assessor qualification.
- CSCS card.
- Valid driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- First Aid at Work.
- Forklift training.
- First Aid qualification.
- Welding/Fabrication experience.
- Store / Workshop management.

Location
Based in Doncaster, SouthYorkshire. Occasional travel nationwide may be required for short‑notice repairs and maintenance.
