Job Description:

CNC Machinists (Grinders and EDM Operators) required for Weekend Night Shift – 17:45 – 05:45 (Fri- Sun).

The role

You’ll operate CNC machinery to produce high‑quality, precision components, ensuring all work meets strict quality and customer standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Operating CNC 3‑axis, 5‑axis and 7‑axis grinding machines, ensuring that parts are machined in accordance with the agreed method specification.
  • Attaining machine‑setting skills to enable machine set‑ups in line with company requirements.
  • Understanding engineering drawings and ensuring that fixtures are correctly aligned.
  • Inspecting parts in line with quality procedures and taking any necessary, approved action to resolve quality issues.
  • Operating CMM machines to support inspection requirements.
  • Consistently achieving all targets (production, quality, housekeeping etc.) as set by the Cell Manager.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including SOX, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety.
  • Working in full compliance with quality, safety, and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in CNC machining and/or a strong academic background in engineering, ideally supported by a recognised machining apprenticeship.
  • Previous experience working with metal components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in conducting self‑inspection of machined components using manual measurement tools.

Desirables

  • Previous experience in CNC grinding or EDM is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience within the aerospace sector is advantageous.
  • Positive attitude and a keenness to learn.
  • Experience with CNC programme editing or basic G‑code adjustments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset.
