Job Overview
United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) is seeking a highly motivated Estates Craftperson (Electrical Bias) to join the Estates Technical team at Lincoln Hospital. The successful candidate will play a proactive role within the team to meet Trust objectives in a safe, cost‑effective, and efficient manner while complying with legislation and good practice.
Main Duties
- Ensure that maintenance activities are effectively recorded, signed and dated appropriately and evidence based.
- Support and encourage multidisciplinary working.
- Encourage team working in all aspects of department performance.
- Provide a role model for others, working alongside colleagues and exhibiting high standards of professional behaviour.
- Challenge traditional practice, seeking improved methods of task delivery which improve quality, safety and working practices.
- Carry out duties safely, cleanly and effectively in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures, Legislative guidance and best industry practice.
- Support the development of team roles through mentoring and shadowing, allowing the teams to learn from your skills.
- Maintain accurate records for reactive and planned activities.

Qualifications
- Appropriate City and Guilds qualification, NVQ3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of an apprenticeship or other recognised training.
- Focused training such as BMS, Control systems, Door access systems, fire systems in depth training and experience.
- Additional hospital engineering related certified training.
Previous Experience
- Experience in maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant and services and fault finding within a similar organisation or similar size and complexity.
- Experience of working in a similar organisation or similar size and complexity.
- Appreciation of other maintenance services.
- Experience of maintenance in a hospital environment, particularly air conditioning, refrigeration, fire alarms, building management systems, nurse call systems and standby power supplies.
Evidence of Particular Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes
- Good understanding of electrical regulations and associated safety procedures.
- Ability to diagnose faults in complicated engineering and building plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the built environment.
- Demonstrable problem‑solving skills.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues.
- Ability to work with minimum guidance.
- Good manual dexterity and logical systematic approach to work tasks.
- Exchange maintenance, technical project‑related information with specialists and non‑specialists; negotiate with contractors or suppliers.

- Experience working with safe systems of work process and permits to work.
