Radiotherapy Service Technician
The closing date is 06 August 2026.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable service technician to join the Radiotherapy Physics team at Coventry. The successful candidate will have practical experience in electronic or electrical engineering but not necessarily with Radiotherapy equipment. Full in-house and manufacturer training will be provided to enable the individual to adapt their existing skills to our equipment.
The successful candidate will join a team of specialist engineers led by our technical manager to provide repair, maintenance and development services to the Arden Cancer Centre (ACC). We are located on the University Hospital site at Walsgrave which is on the edge of historic Coventry with convenient transport to the city and easy access to rural Warwickshire, the M6 and the M69 motorways.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Duties will include all aspects of the repair and planned maintenance of medical linear accelerators and ancillary equipment.
You will have proven experience as a service technician or similar role in healthcare, industry or the Armed Forces. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience of fault finding and repair of complex electronic systems. A relevant degree or a technical qualification and proven experience is required.
Although previous experience with medical linear accelerators is not required, appointment at band 6 will require experience in a relevant area. Applicants with less experience may be considered and initially appointed at a lower pay band.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled technician to make a positive contribution to the cancer treatment service here in Coventry. Flexible working arrangements are encouraged and we welcome applications from people who would wish to work part time.

- Construct innovative devices and modifications to assist scientists with R&D.
- Deliver training of small groups of inexperienced staff and students under supervision, and describe machine operation to students and non-technical personnel.
- Identify opportunities for the innovation of equipment to enhance the service.
- Propose and develop procedures for treatment machine maintenance and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Radiotherapy Quality System.
