Machine Operator

Location: Leeds

Contract: Permanent

Shift: Nights (Mon – Thu)

Our client, a large manufacturing business based in Leeds, has an immediate requirement to recruit a well‑versed Machine Setter Operator. The Machine Setter will set, run, and maintain manufacturing machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. They will support daily output targets by completing accurate machine set‑ups, monitoring quality, and ensuring smooth operation throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow daily production instructions and run the correct required springs.
  • Monitor raw materials and request as required from the department Manager.
  • Monitor quality of products; ensure all quality procedures and checks are adhered to, feed back to the Manager.
  • Change cloth and wire.
  • Complete quality checks to agreed tolerances.
  • Monitor machine output.
  • General upkeep of the Coilers/ glue assembler.
  • Frame core units & roll pack.
  • Check wire and reject wire correctly.
  • Assist engineers with machine issues.
  • Work with the Manager/planner to ensure the work is produced to the correct priority and completed on time.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in a machine setting or machine operating role within manufacturing; understanding of mechanical adjustments, tooling changes, and basic fault finding.
  • Ability to follow production instructions and quality standards accurately.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues, engineers, and managers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.

Working Hours & Pay

Hours of work are 40 hours per week: Monday and Tuesday 6 pm – 6 am, Wednesday and Thursday 10 pm – 6 am. During the training period of up to 12 weeks, you will work 6 am – 2 pm.

Hourly rate: £15.76 plus shift allowance.
