Test Technician – Engineering

York, North Yorkshire YO1

Salary £27,112 per annum

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week, day shift pattern: Start 7:00am or 8:00am, Finish 3:00pm or 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and align precision components using engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Conduct a range of tests including fit, vibration, and response to environmental factors.
  • Make precise adjustments using microscopes, scalpels, and small tools to achieve required frequency and amplitude ranges.
  • Record, analyse, and interpret data from test equipment and analysers.
  • Fault find, diagnose issues, and support resolution while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Complete accurate documentation and update systems as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and team objectives.

Skills & Experience

  • High attention to detail and a methodical, patient approach to work.
  • Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding ability.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination and dexterity.
  • Ability to follow processes and technical instructions accurately.
  • Experience working in a team environment and independently.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with microscopes, test equipment, or small hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or data.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

  • Must be a UK or NATO citizen.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
